White Rock originated as a wonderful vacationing spot for people from Vancouver, New Westminster and later others from the USA via the Great Northern Railway. There is still a huge white rock weighing 460 tons on the sandy beach.... an ancient glacial deposit from the Coastal Range. A 2.5 KM promenade and a 1500 foot pier allow further enjoyment of the ocean waters of Semiahmoo Bay. Easy access to Hwy 99 to Vancouver and the Canada/US border connects White Rock with the rest of the world.
